Programs your Step Up For Students funds can go toward
As an approved Step Up For Students direct service provider, The Stingray Allstars Fort Lauderdale can serve scholarship families across our full range of programs, from a four-year-old's first movement class to a full competitive all-star season. This page lists what those programs actually are, how long each one runs, and what a family is committing to, so you can match a program against your scholarship's purchasing guide and your available balance. Step Up For Students determines which of these are eligible expenses for your particular scholarship; our job is to tell you plainly what each program is and what it costs.

Classes: preschool movement through specialty technique
Our weekly class program is the most flexible starting point and the easiest to match to a scholarship balance, because it is priced per class rather than per season. Classes run 55 minutes and are $17 each. Families register with a monthly commitment or buy Class Passes through the Pro Shop.
The class ladder runs from preschool movement, where the goal is body awareness, listening, and confidence on a mat, through beginner tumbling, and up into specialty technique classes for athletes chasing a specific skill. A student can stay in classes indefinitely without ever joining a team, which is exactly the right fit for a family using scholarship funds for physical education rather than competitive sport.
- •Preschool movement: age-appropriate motor skills, coordination, and gym confidence.
- •Beginner tumbling: rolls, cartwheels, bridges, and the foundations of back handsprings.
- •Intermediate and advanced tumbling: standing and running skills, progressions toward tucks and layouts.
- •Specialty technique: jumps and motions, stunt technique, and focused skill classes.
- •Open Stunt and Tumble: $20 for a 90-minute open training session.
- •Clinics: $45 for a focused two-hour skill session.
Rays Ready: our pre-team program
Rays Ready is the bridge between weekly classes and a competitive team. It meets twice a week for 90 minutes a session at $140 per month, and it is built for athletes who are past beginner tumbling but not yet placed on a team.
For scholarship families, Rays Ready is often the most useful middle option. It is a recurring monthly cost that is easy to plan a balance around, it delivers far more training hours per dollar than a single weekly class, and it does not carry the uniform, choreography, competition, and travel costs that come with a full competitive season.
Competitive teams: full-season and half-season
Our competitive program places athletes into Novice, Prep, or Elite after an evaluation with our coaching staff. Novice is the foundational placement with local-only events. Prep is the progressive placement with structured scoring and regional travel. Elite is the premier placement with the highest technical expectations, national bid events, and a full twelve-month commitment.
Both full-season and half-season options exist, and the half-season and Novice routes are meaningfully less expensive than a full Elite season. Competitive team pricing varies by team and program, so it is call-only: reach us at (954) 988-0488 and we will walk your family through the complete cost, including the line items beyond tuition. General pricing is also included in the tryout packet.
Be deliberate here if you are budgeting against a scholarship balance. A competitive season is not one number; it is tuition plus a uniform package, choreography and music, competition fees, and family travel. Ask us for the full breakdown before you commit, and check each line against your scholarship's purchasing guide, because a rule that covers instruction does not automatically cover a uniform or an event entry fee.
Private lessons and camps
Private lessons are one-on-one time with a coach, usually booked to break through a specific skill such as a back handspring or a tuck. Camps and clinics run on their own schedule through the year and are a low-commitment way to add training hours during school breaks.
These are useful to scholarship families for a practical reason: they are discrete, dated, itemized purchases. That makes them straightforward to document, whichever way your scholarship handles payment.
How to match a program to your balance
The honest advice we give every family, scholarship or not, is to start below what you think you can afford and move up. An athlete who starts in weekly classes and grows into Rays Ready and then a team has a better experience than one who starts on an Elite team and burns out or runs out of funding in March.
If you tell us your student's age, experience, and roughly what your scholarship balance looks like, we will tell you which program actually fits rather than steering you to the most expensive one. That conversation takes about ten minutes on the phone.
Who decides what your funds cover
The Stingray Allstars Fort Lauderdale is an approved Step Up For Students direct service provider. Eligibility, award amounts, funding timelines, and which expenses may be paid from your account are all determined by Step Up For Students and the state of Florida, not by the gym, and the rules differ by scholarship program and are updated between school years. Read the current-year purchasing guide for your scholarship, and contact Step Up For Students directly with anything ambiguous. We will give you accurate pricing and itemized receipts; we will never tell you an expense is covered when that decision is not ours to make.
Step Up For Students official siteFrequently asked questions
Can scholarship funds be used for a full competitive cheer season?
Our competitive teams are open to scholarship families, and both full-season and half-season options exist. Whether your specific scholarship covers competitive team fees, and which line items within a season it covers, is determined by Step Up For Students in your scholarship's purchasing guide. Call us at (954) 988-0488 for the full cost breakdown so you can check it against your guide.
What is the least expensive way to start?
Weekly classes at $17 per 55-minute class are the least expensive entry point, and they can be bought as Class Passes rather than a monthly commitment. Open Stunt and Tumble sessions are $20 for 90 minutes. Both let a family test the gym without committing to a season.
Do you have programs for very young children?
Yes. Our class ladder starts with preschool movement, which focuses on motor skills, coordination, listening, and confidence in a gym setting rather than on competitive cheer skills.
Are uniforms and competition fees included in team pricing?
No. A competitive season includes tuition plus a uniform package, choreography and music, competition fees, and family travel. We will give you the complete breakdown by phone at (954) 988-0488 so nothing is a surprise.
